Intro

The “Zuger Kirschtorte” (Zug cherry cake) is known as THE speciality of Zug. Trying it and watching how it's made at a bakery really should be mandatory!

The Zug cherry cake is perfect as a dessert, or just for something to eat between meals. Its base and top is a layer of Japonaise with almonds and hazelnuts, and light biscuit sandwiched around a light butter cream with a generous dousing of first-class Zug kirsch liqueur.

It has been sold now for almost 100 years, continually improved and won many awards at confectionary fairs. But most importantly, the Zug cherry cake is much enjoyed by countless people at home and abroad.

You can watch the confectioners at work and see how it's made. Learn all about the skill involved in making one of Switzerland's most well-known desserts and join the circle of people who know the secrets of the Zug cherry cake.
