Egguweg Albinen
Overview
Intro
Egguweg – herbs and culture The Egguweg trail takes visitors on an exciting 17-stop tour of Albinen’s natural and culture heritage.
Along the way, you’ll learn about medicinal herbs, edible mountain herbs and the flora of the mountain regions. The stations (“Eggu”) along the route provide interesting information about the various ways in which the herbs are used. Keep your eyes and ears peeled as you walk and you may spot colourful butterflies, nimble lizards and other animals besides.
The ten stations in the village centre provide information on the unique clusters of old timber houses. At two further stations, you’ll learn all about how dry stone walls are built and the special form of plastering known as Bikkini.
Guided tours of the Egguweg are run every Wednesday afternoon. These three-hour tours can be booked at the municipality of Albinen. Other weekdays are available on request.
The trail is well signposted and can be completed in either direction. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
