Steep Skiing

Freeriding in steep terrain! Do you want to ride steep couloirs? But you want to gain some experience and skills? This is your chance! In the first section of the course you learn ski technique for steep terrain as well as the basics of using a rope on skis. We will also discuss tactics for steep skiing. After we have learned some basic skills and tuned up our technique we will head off so ski some steep terrain. Definitely an adrenalin kick!

Level  For experienced freeriders - You have a lot of freeriding experience. You are able to ride safely in steep terrain. You are experienced in riding with hard snow conditions. At the same time you feel comfortable on your skis.

Fitness  You are fit for smaller climbs

Course Language  German and English mixed

Time  08.30 - 16.00 (Registration 08.00 Base Station Gemsstockbahn)

Meeting-Point Morning course  Base Station Gemsstockbahn: Imholz Sport, Gotthardstrasse 110, Andermatt

Lunch Break  1 hour, in the skiing area Gemsstock, Restaurants are present (at one´s own expenses)

Group size  2-8 Persons

Insurance  Participants are responsible for their own insurance. Every participant has to have a (on this tour valid) accident and health insurance. We also recommend a travel cancellation insurance.

What happens if I suddenly cannot come? Cancellation is possible free of charge 7 days before the event (directly via the booking portal). After that 100% of the course fees will be charged. Exceptions are illness & accident (only valid with doctor's certificate). Other cases only in consultation with the organizers via contact form.

Bad weather, what now? There is no such thing as bad weather, there is only bad clothing ;-P Basically, the event and also the offered courses take place in almost all weather conditions. Of course we pay a lot of attention to safety, which could lead to changes or cancellations of individual courses (avalanche risk, storm, etc.) In this case you will of course receive a full refund. However, if the mountain guide/ski instructor deems the course to be feasible, there is no possibility to cancel at short notice and the course fee cannot be refunded (e.g. in case of snowfall or fog). Because often even such days turn out to be very instructive and exciting. On the other hand, the mountain guides/ski instructors also live off this income and reserve the date in advance and refuse other requests.
