Feel like a short, easy hike on a sunny plateau? If so, this circuit is made for you. The path leads from the mountain station of the cable car Bettmeralp towards Ried, through the Baderwald and along the forest promenade back to Bettmeralp.
Description
The starting point of this idyllic and charming winter hike is the Bettmeralp cable car station, at an altitude of 1,924 metres. The village of the same name is located on a sunny terrace above the Rhône Valley with a magnificent view of the four-thousand-metre summits of the Valais Alps including the Weisshorn, the Dom and the Matterhorn.
From the mountain station, start out by walking straight through the upper part of the village, heading eastwards. When you reach the edge of the village, the hiking trail plunges into the forest. The going is fairly flat as you cross the Baschweri district, heading for Martisbergeralp. After a walk of well over half an hour, before Martisbergeralp, the path turns back 180° towards the west.
As the route climbs gently uphill, the forest thins out and winter hikers are surrounded by a scattering of fir trees. After the mountain hut belonging to the commune of Möriken-Wildegg, shortly before you enter the locality, you join the same route again to continue into this car-free mountain village. Head past typical Valais chalets to return to the mountain station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
