Leaving the Hotel Rosenlaui, the trail mostly follows the Rychenbach down through the narrow valley. Meadows and forest passages alternate. Once you have passed the Kaltenbrunnen sawmill, you have to follow the road for a bit. It is worth taking a look back at the Wellhorn, the Wetterhorn and the gleaming white Rosenlaui glacier. The mountain ranges above the Hasliberg now appear in front of you, which you will have to climb on the next day in the direction of the Planplatten.

After the Zwirgi inn, you can see Meiringen deep down in the valley. The narrow path drops steeply over the rocky shoulder into the Hasli valley. Suddenly you are standing in the spray of the imposing Rychenbach falls, which plunge more than 120 metres into the depths over a width of 40 metres. This is where Conan Doyle's character Sherlock Holmes is said to have fought his adversary Professor Moriarty. Across meadows and through small fringes of forest, you get down to the Aare bridge and to Willigen. Thanks to the railway line, a detour into the nearby Aare gorge would be easy from here.

There is still a strenuous climb ahead to the stage destination in Hasliberg Reuti. You ascend along a gravel road to Wylerli and then on a narrow path over the steep incline through the beech forest. Suddenly you are standing above the rock face again and looking down into the wide Hasli valley. Across meadows and pastures you reach the centre of Hasliberg Reuti with its many inns and options for accommodation.
