This is Leysin
Leysin is located in the southwest of Switzerland in the canton of
Vaud. Situated above the Rhone Valley, this mountain village, is an attractive travel and holiday destination because of its mild climate, the Berneuse mountain,
a popular destination for excursions, and its proximity to
Lake Geneva.
Discover Leysin
A plateau located some 1300 meters above sea level, facing south and sheltered from the north wind, Leysin was once a well-known spa town. On your tour of the village, you will notice the stately buildings that formerly housed the high-altitude clinics, which have since been transformed into international private schools. You are sure to enjoy the view of the mountains and the Rhone Valley, which extend all the way to
Lake Geneva. Speaking of enjoyment, at the
cheese factory, you can watch how cheese is made over a wood fire and, of course, taste the finished product.
Berneuse mountain - a popular excursion destination
The cable car will bring you directly from Leysin to the peak of the
Berneuse mountain. What a panorama! Mont Blanc looks out next to the
Dents du Midi mountain range, while the
Matterhorn stands out alongside Les Diablerets, and you can see the Eiger in the distance. Meanwhile,
the Kuklos restaurant offers a panoramic view in slow motion: the solar-powered glass building rotates once every 90 minutes. From the Berneuse you can hike back down into the valley – past the idyllic mountain lakes of Aï and Mayen.
