Trang and Kevin both left their home countries to study at the University of Cambridge, in the UK. Trang is from Vietnam and Kevin is from Switzerland. They admit that neither of them are very sociable people so although they lived in the same dormitory and have a lot of mutual friends, it took two years at university for them to actually meet. They were first introduced during a large BBQ, but it took a few months more at the college’s May Ball for them to talk and get to know each other properly, when they joined a poker game together in the casino. And from there, the story began.

We wanted to honour Kevin’s heritage as a Swiss and share his cultural traditions with our loved ones. It was an opportunity for our international guests and Trang’s family to experience a unique destination with beautiful sceneries that we both love. Being in Switzerland also makes it easy for Kevin’s family and friends living all over the country to all be together for our special day. We chose the venue specifically for its stunning lake with mountain backdrop, and traditional Swiss architecture, reminiscent of where Kevin grew up. The location is also close to Zurich airport for our international guests to access.

The natural landscapes are simply breath-taking: serene lakes, majestic mountains, charming villages. Switzerland also has excellent infrastructure, very reliable and professional services which make the wedding organisation more seamless. Good flight connections and ease of access are very beneficial for an international wedding. It’s a great destination for international guests to also explore as a holiday in addition to the wedding. Many of ours did.

We did not live in the country at the time, so mainly used Google and browsed through wedding blogs featuring the Lucerne areas. We also found the Switzerland Tourism Website very helpful to find venues available in the areas we wanted and ideas for vendors, especially because it was in English. The venue and planner provided a helpful list of suggested vendors as well.

We chose Emma Wilson and Story Of Your Day because we wanted a personalised wedding video that is an authentic representation of our special day rather than following a specific format. We have a large wedding packed with activities, so having someone with a wealth of experience in filmography like Emma is very reassuring to us.
