Emilie & Nico’s Dreamy Wedding Weekend at Chateau Gütsch, Lucerne Written by: Emilie
Emilie & Nico’s Dreamy Wedding Weekend at Chateau Gütsch, Lucerne Written by: Emilie
Intro
Our wedding day was simply enchanting. We were anxious about planning a wedding in Switzerland from New York, but everything came together perfectly. We cannot believe we got a fairytale wedding – in a castle – on our budget, including top-quality food (with mini-Swiss dishes for our apero), a lively band, lake and alpine views unlike any our guests had seen, delicate spring flowers, and adventurous cocktails. Our guests still tell us that this was one of the best weddings they have been to.
- 82 Number of guests
- June 2022 Date
- Switzerland and USA Origin of the couple
The most memorable part of the wedding
One of many memorable moments was our first look on the terrace of the Turner Suite. When we saw the room, we were blown away by how elegant, opulent, and charming it was. We originally planned to have our first look at Lake Luzern, but once we saw the incredible view from the terrace, we chose to stay for our special moment. The space was secluded for us to exchange our private vows. The moment was emotional and intimate, and set the tone for the rest of our wonderful wedding.
Reasons for Switzerland
Emilie is half Swiss on her father’s side and was raised in Zurich. Nico fell in love with Switzerland in 2016 when he first visited Emilie’s family, and the couple have taken many trips back since. After spending seven weeks living in Zurich with Emilie’s parents during the early pandemic, the couple abandoned their New York wedding and started planning a one-of-a-kind Swiss wedding. They chose Luzern for its glittering lake and soaring mountains, and finding Château Gütsch made it perfect.
