On the southern slopes from Sierre to St-Léonard
Overview
Intro
Beneath the gaze of the Valais Alps, this hike winds its way from Sierre to St-Léonard through the region’s vineyards. The sun-kissed Valais offers many interesting vistas and experiences.
Description
Château Mercier in Sierre is well worth a visit. Its landscaped gardens are open to the public all year round and are a treasure in their own right. The hike itself begins at Sierre railway station, quickly ascending a few hundred metres along the side of the valley. As the town gives way to vineyards, Sierre and the valley basin with its orchards and the Rhône come into view. The path climbs gently as far as Corin-de-la-Crête and then remains more or less level until it reaches Ollon. When the hiking trail reaches St-Léonard, it passes the underwater lake of St-Léonard. To access it, however, you have to hike back a little in the village. The hike ends at St-Léonard railway station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
