The Museum of Rural Civilization in Stabio belongs to the network of ethnographic museums in Canton Ticino.

Opened to the public in 1981 with the intention of preserving and enhancing the rural testimonies of the Mendrisiotto and Lower Ceresio regions, the museum now consists of an ethnographic collection of nearly 20,000 objects. The exhibits inside the structure, a 19th-century building that was the site of the old municipal schools, are characterized by an important number of objects, tools, and utensils on display and a strongly didactic exhibition itinerary. A concept intended to help the public grasp the consequentiality and connections between the many themes presented that try to tell the story of "peasant civilization."
