Jura - a paradise for horse riding
Overview
Intro
The gentle, hilly landscapes and expansive nature areas of Jura are captivating and perfect for all types of horse riding activities at any level.
The Jura region and in particular Franches-Montagnes are known as the home of the horse of the same name, and also as a paradise for many horse riding activities. The Franches-Montagnes horse is the only indigenous Swiss breed and lives partly wild on the Jura mountain range. This makes the surroundings reminiscent of the Wild West, because the sole horse breed wanders happily across the fields and country lanes.
With its Wytweiden meadows, forests and primeval landscapes, the region is perfect for horse riding at all levels. It is a real paradise for riders and visitors who would like to try horse riding for the first time or are interested in the wide range of riding activities in the region. Whether young or old, large or small, beginners or professionals – activities are open to all, without exception.
Further information and horse riding offers
There are many horse breeders in the Jura region who offer rides, farm visits and trips by horse-drawn wagon or coach. In Le Noirmont - near the seat of the Franches-Montagnes region - is Le Peupé, which is run as a breeding establishment by the Boichat family. The farm is located in an idyllic landscape and visitors can experience the beauty of the region at first hand.
