Cardada Cimetta
Overview
Intro
The lowest and highest points in Switzerland at a glance: Lake Maggiore to the south and the Valais Alps with the Dufourspitze to the west. All just five minutes from the city of Locarno. This is the Cardada mountain.
The Cardada is Locarno's local mountain and offers breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore, the Magadino plain and the Valais Alps. The cable car from Orselina, designed by Mario Botta, takes just a few minutes to reach the mountain station. Panoramic platforms, hiking trails and mountain bike routes await visitors at the top. Cardada offers easy snowshoe trails in winter and an ideal climate for hiking in summer.
One highlight is the viewing platform, a platform that seems to float above the valley. Families appreciate the adventure playground, while connoisseurs can sample regional specialties in mountain huts. From here, a hiking trail leads to Cimetta (1,671 m), which offers a unique view of the lowest and highest point in Switzerland at the same time. Cardada is a perfect blend of nature, sport and relaxation.
