Bishorn (4,151m a.s.l.)
Hint
Intro
This physically challenging four-thousander lies in the Valais Alps and consists of two peaks. It was a woman who first climbed its eastern peak!
Bishorn (4,151m a.s.l.) at a glance
Compared with other four-thousanders, the Bishorn is one of the easiest, technically speaking. But you need to be in good physical shape to make the ascent, even just to get to the base camp, the Tracuit Hut, at a difference in altitude of 1,500 metres. The Bishorn lies in the Valais Alps, is an outlier of the Weisshorn northern ridge, and consists of two peaks. A higher western peak (4,151m a.s.l.) and a slightly smaller eastern peak (4,135m ü. a.s.l.). The secondary summit was climbed for the first time by a woman – English Elizabeth Burnaby – in 1884.
