Art Deco Hotel Montana, Luzern

In 1910, hotelier and builder Alfred Schrämli opened the Hotel Montana on this unique hill with a view of Lake Lucerne. At the same time, an electric funicular was built, which is one of the shortest funiculars in the world. Gradually, the grand hotel was expanded and renovated in the Art Deco style. Today, this family-run hotel welcomes guests in 62 rooms and suites.

The French architect Jean Nouvel stayed at the Hotel Montana with a view of the Lucerne basin while making the first sketches for the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre (KKL).

The Bären is the oldest building in Gonten, with the main structure dating back to 1602. In 1962, it was transformed into a proper hotel after being used for various purposes such as a pilgrim hostel, embroidery factory, carriage house, and more.
