It contains around 170,000 volumes, including 2,100 valuable manuscripts, many of which are over 1,000 years old. The works offer fascinating insights into the monastic culture of St. Gallen.
The baroque hall is an authentic eye-catcher and is one of the most beautiful library rooms in Switzerland. Visitors can marvel at rare manuscripts and special pieces in changing exhibitions. A special highlight is the 2,700-year-old Egyptian mummy Schepenese.
