This is Scuol
Scuol is located in the south-east of Switzerland, in the
Lower Engadin of the canton of
Graubünden. The town on the
Inn River is a popular destination because of its varied summer and winter sports opportunities and its mineral springs.
Discover Scuol
There is a lot to discover in Scuol because the largest Swiss municipality in terms of area includes the villages
of Ardez, Ftan,
Guarda,
Sent, and Tarasp. Its landmarks include the
Engadin houses with their thick stone walls and sgraffiti – these are paintings scratched into the plaster, which can be admired, for example, in
Guarda, home of the famous Schellen-Ursli, the book about “A Bell for Ursli”. High up from Scuol, you will reach the hiking and skiing area of Motta Naluns. The landmark of the valley,
Tarasp Castle, is worth seeing. The lord of the castle and artist Not Vital from Sent sets accents around the castle with his sculptures.
Hiking in the surroundings of Scuol
While hiking, you will discover the charm of the Engadin villages and the diverse landscape. Whether on the summit, along the mountain flanks or along the Inn River in the footsteps of the mineral springs: you will enjoy the sun on your face, the scent of Swiss pine trees in your nose and a fairytale backdrop in front of you. The
Lower Engadin presents itself magically in autumn, when the larch trees glow golden yellow in contrast to the evergreen conifers.
The mineral springs of Scuol
A blessing after an extensive hike: the
Bogn Engiadina in the heart of Scuol. You will bathe in the warm mineral waters of various indoor and outdoor pools with bubble loungers. You can also enjoy being pampered in the Roman-Irish bath and sauna area. In the village, you can also drink the mineral-rich water directly from the well.
Around Scuol
The side valleys of Val Sinestra,
Val d’Uina and Val S-charl are true natural paradises. Top excursion destinations include the
National Park and the
Val Müstair with the UNESCO World Heritage Site of
St. Johann. The
Via Engiadina is considered one of the most beautiful long-distance hikes – stages 7 to 11 lead from
Guarda via
Ardez and Ftan to
Sent and to the border with Tyrol.
