Tracing the origin of the Tête de Moine AOP: Set in the heart of the Chasseral Nature Park, this culinary treasure hunt is all about solving riddles, meeting local producers and trying regional specialties. Away from the crowded tourist haunts, this enjoyable hike takes visitors through the culinary heritage of an enchanting region.
The Savurando trail in the Chasseral Nature Park starts at the Hotel Hota near the St-Imier train station. After all, every treasure hunt needs puzzling clues as constant companions for the day.
From monastic morsels and winding alleys to lush greenery
Equipped with the necessary clues, we embark on a culinary voyage of discovery. Without giving too much away: The Savurando trail promises exciting insights into the production chain of the famous Tête de Moine AOP. The “monk’s head” cheese, produced in the Bernese Jura and the canton of Jura, is famous for its 800-year-old recipe and distinctive cheese flowers. Of course, in addition to all the detective work, there is plenty to thrill your taste buds too: The hike through the regional nature park also includes various opportunities to sample regional specialties as a reward.
Scenic vistas, typical dry stone walls and a tasty finish
Following panoramic trails, the hike reveals the regional nature park in all its glory: Woodland meadows criss-crossed by dry-stone walls typical of the region, grazing cows and a magnificent panorama with a view of the striking Chasseral telecommunications tower are just some of the highlights. The Savurando trail comes with a well-deserved tasty surprise!

The culinary treasure hunt takes guests to the heart of Swiss parks. Exciting puzzles, conversations with local producers and opportunities to taste regional specialities allow gourmets and other curious-minded visitors to discover the culinary riches of the regional nature parks.
Savurando, a play on words from “savurus" (Romansh for “tasty”) and "rando" (French for “hike”), are culinary hikes that introduce guests to regional and culinary diversity, promote local added value and make an important contribution to sustainable development in rural regions of Switzerland.
