Alpine Panorama Trail
Overview
Intro
Many paths lead to the Napf - but no roads! One of the most beautiful approaches to the summit is the scenic range of hills via Menzberg. The panorama of the Alpine chain, Mittelland and Jura from the Napf is one of the most magnificent in Switzerland.
Description
The high route between Napf and Lüderenalp with the amazing views is one of the most beautiful and popular hikes in the Emmental Valley. Walking in peace, away from the noise of traffic and civilization, you feel the soothing effects of the lovely rolling landscape. Hiking across the trails, ridges and meadows of the Napf area is like traveling back in time. The trail passes solitary traditional farms and mountain inns where the farmers still serve you personally.
The highest part of this stage and the entire Napf region is the starting point: the peak of Napf Mountain with the hotel at 1406 m. The elevation of this area was formed millions of years ago by boulder deposits of the powerful original Aare into the former Molasse Sea of the Mittelland region. Even during the ice age, the area was not covered by ice. The characteristic topography of the Napf environment changed in conjunction with the ongoing effects of erosion. From Hotel Napf the pleasant high route leads down to Niederänzi and Hochänzi.
The trail steadily continues up and down. When the weather is clear, you always have a fantastic view of the Alps and the Mittelland region, all the way to the Jura Mountains. The well-known Oberlus Hut is located about half way through today’s hike. It is a great place to take a break and enjoy the view of the snow-capped Wetterhörner. You continue via Geissgratflue to Lüderenalp, a popular destination with beautiful panoramic views of the Bernese Alps and the Jura Mountains. This is where you find the world’s longest bench (38.03 m) made of one single tree trunk. Another highlight known far and wide is the “Lüderen Fest” which takes place every year in early August.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
