This is the Jungfrau Region
The Jungfrau Region is situated in the southwest of Switzerland in the
Bernese Oberland. The
Jungfraujoch, the Eiger, the
Lauterbrunnen Valley and the
Aare Gorge make the region a top destination for excursions.
Discover the Jungfrau Region
The Jungfrau region with its three valleys offers you much of Switzerland in a compact area. In the
Lauterbrunnen Valley, marvel at rushing waterfalls opposite idyllic alpine meadows and enjoy the car-free mountain villages of
Wengen and
Mürren. A trip to the
Schilthorn with its revolving restaurant and the
Thrill Walk makes for a spectacular experience.
Grindelwald promises the utmost in mountain adventure: in the
Glacial Gorge, for example, or on the
First Cliff Walk. Finally, in the
Haslital, hike through the wild
Aare Gorge or the lakescape on the
Grimsel.
The Jungfraujoch
The
Jungfraujoch, at 3,454 metres, is the highest upper station in the Alps. You can reach it from
Grindelwald or
Wengen via the
Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the Eiger north face. From the Sphinx Observatory on the Jungfraujoch, you can look out over the monumental
Aletsch Glacier. Other highlights include the Ice Palace, strolls through year-round snow and the Snow Fun Park.
