Intro
Nendaz high above the Rhône Valley: the Valais holiday resort inspires with its huge “4 Vallées” winter sports area and its extensive hiking network, taking visitors from bisses to glaciers. Experience the “Japanese Garden”, the Cleuson reservoir and Mont Fort with a sensational Alpine backdrop.
This is Nendaz
Nendaz is situated in the southwest of Switzerland in the canton of Valais. Its location above the Rhône Valley, its year-round leisure activities and the views of the Bernese, Valais and Vaud Alps make Nendaz a popular excursion destination and holiday resort.
Discover Nendaz
Your journey of discovery begins in Nendaz village centre. With the shingle-roofed wooden houses, the Tsâblo water mill and the Saint-Michel Chapel, it has retained the charm of a typical Valais village. At the edge of the village, you’ll find the start of the sculpture trail: marvel at the wood carvings of local mythical creatures and enjoy the view of the Rhône Valley and the mountains.
Nendaz as a hiking paradise
The “Japanese Garden”, situated on a glacial moraine, is truly idyllic: here, you’ll hike along a babbling mountain stream through a naturally grown garden. Ideal destinations for families include the panorama trail, which offers up games of skill, and the Herens cattle educational trail, which looks at the lives of the stocky Valais cows. The “Chemin des Bisses” tour takes you along historic irrigation canals. Alternatively, you can hike to the turquoise-blue Cleuson reservoir or to the Dent de Nendaz, with views reaching as far as Mont Blanc.
“4 Vallées” winter sports area
A winter sports arena that extends over four valleys: “4 Vallées” is the largest ski area in Switzerland. The altitude and snow-making facilities ensure perfect fun in the snow from November to April. The highest point is Mont Fort, 3,330 metres up: you can reach the summit with its glass viewing platform from Siviez. The long descents will inspire you, and the panoramic views are absolutely breathtaking, reaching from the Matterhorn to the Combin massif and as far as Mont Blanc.
