Vevey is situated in the southwest of Switzerland, in the French-speaking part of the country. Its location on Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) with a view of the Alps and the mild climate make the town a popular destination. It was in Vevey that one of the most well-known comedians and actors – Charlie Chaplin – spent the last few years of his life. At the Chaplin’s World museum, you’ll get a glimpse into the life and work of the silent film icon. The statue of Charlie Chaplin on the lakeside promenade also commemorates the artist.
The Lavaux vineyards near Vevey
Vevey is surrounded by the Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Not far from Vevey is Chillon Castle (Château de Chillon). The castle is a top excursion destination in Switzerland. You’ll find just that on Mont-Pèlerin and its “Plein Ciel” observation tower. You can also take the Rochers-de-Naye cogwheel train from Vevey to the Rochers-de-Naye. A spectacular panorama awaits!
