Dirruhorn (4,035m a.s.l.)
Hint
Intro
The Dürrenhorn lies at one end of the Nadelgrat ridge, and is somewhat hidden away and less popular as a result. The climb is a treacherous one, partly because of an increased risk of rockfall.
Dirruhorn (4,035m a.s.l.) at a glance
The Dürrenhorn (in Valais German, also called the “Dirruhorn”) stands in line next to the Dom and the Täschhorn, in the same chain of mountains as the Mischabel group. As the last peak on the Nadelgrat ridge, it is rather secluded and therefore also climbed by mountaineers less frequently than the other four peaks on the same ridge. But that’s probably not the only reason why: over the past few years, there has been an increasing risk of rockfall due to melting firn. Anyone climbing the peak (4,035m a.s.l.) will be treated to a fabulous panoramic view of the Valais Alps with its many four-thousanders.
