The Peuchapatte educational trail
Overview
Intro
At the heart of the Peuchapatte wind farm (canton Jura), this original educational trail will teach you more about wind energy, the wind and the Franches-Montagnes region.
The Peuchapatte wind farm went into operation in January 2011. It is Alpiq's first wind farm in Switzerland. The output from its three wind turbines covers the equivalent of 3% of the canton of Jura's electricity consumption. The wind farm has been designed to minimise the impact of the turbines on the population, the landscape and the environment, while taking advantage of the excellent wind conditions on the Jura ridge.
Alpiq is proud to present "In the wind", an educational trail installed along the path beneath the wind turbines. At each station, playful and original installations and explanatory panels in French and German provide new and detailed information about wind energy, the wind and the Franches-Montagnes region. A wonderful opportunity to learn while having fun!
The educational trail has been designed with young people in mind, but is open to everyone. It is located at the junction of several footpaths. The nearest station is Creux-des-Biches. It takes around 30 to 40 minutes to walk to the educational trail.
The trail takes around 30 minutes to complete. There are no particular difficulties.
The Peuchapatte park is freely accessible.
Guided tours of the base of a wind turbine are available by appointment.
