Intro
Author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle chose the 120-metre-high waterfall as the location where his hero Sherlock Holmes staged his own death in his battle against Professor Moriarty.
Originally a rail line serving the electricity works, the faithfully restored 24-seater wooden carriages now take visitors up the mountainside.
Not far from the upper station, three viewing terraces offer a breathtaking views of the waterfall and the Haslital valley. This trip is an absolute must for Sherlock Holmes fans. It is where the famous detective fought his nemesis Professor Moriarty in a violent struggle that ended with both men plunging to their deaths in this very waterfall…
Hiking trails lead back to the Haslital valley, for example through the Aare Gorge or towards Rosenlaui to the historic hotel and the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge.

Train to Alpbach via Meiringen, walk (5 minutes) or bus to Willigen, funicular to the Reichenbach Falls
