Brenno Gorge
Overview
Intro
The Blenio Valley in Upper Ticino is a typical Ticino mountain valley. Densely forested mountain slopes rise majestically above the sunny valley floors far below.
The green of forests and meadows stands out against the grey of the rocks and stone houses. The murmuring of the Brenno River, which carved a gorge out of the collapsed rubble from an ancient landslide between Motto and Semione, provides the soundtrack for this Alpine scene. Brenno Gorge is an easy hike. Orino Gorge, which joins Blenio Valley with Malvaglia Valley, affording hikers a bird’s eye view from the elegant Ponte Lau arched stone bridge.
Getting there: By public transport or car from Bellinzona via Biasca to Aquarossa/Olivone.
