Tour des Alpes Vaudoises
Overview
Intro
Attractive trails lead down into the Pays-d'Enhaut, crossing wide pastureland. Descent from La Lécherette to Les Moulins, a tiny, picturesque mountain village. The section ends in Château-d'Oex, the main town of the Pays-d'Enhaut.
Description
The Col de Mosses connects Aigle with Château-d’Oex and also forms the watershed between the Rhine and the Rhone. This third leg sets off from the little resort of Les Mosses. From the pass, you will walk through a meadow to La Lécherette. This area is marked by military activity: an old 55/57 battle tank is parked in front of the armoured infantry barracks.
This is followed by an easy climb to Rodovanel with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains along the way, especially the Gummfluh on the border between the cantons of Bern and Vaud. At 2,458 metres above sea level, it is the highest peak in the Pays-d’Enhaut nature park.
Now comes the descent, through meadows at first and then along a surfaced road leading to Les Moulins. The little mountain village is intersected by the Torneresse stream, which feeds into the river Saane a short distance further on. If you want, you can take a break at the restaurant here before tackling the final hour of walking.
Château-d’Oex is the main settlement in the Pays d’Enhaut district. The resort has grown to become a hot air balloon Mecca on the strength of its favourable microclimate. The hot air balloon days in January are a colourful spectacle to behold.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
