Carl Roesch (1884-1979) is one of Thurgau's best-known artists. He was given a full 78 years of artistic creativity. He lived and worked in Diessenhofen. From Zurich to Graubünden and Schaffhausen, many public works bear witness to the esteem in which he was held during his lifetime. One of the most extensive collections of works by the artist and his wife Margrit Roesch-Tanner can be found in the Museum kunst + wissen. The presentation is regularly changed so that the work of the two artists can be viewed from different angles. Their studio is in its original state and can be viewed on request. The studio is managed by the Carl and Margrit Roesch Foundation.

In the mid-19th century, Heinrich Hanhart (1784-1854) and Johann Conrad Huber (1788-1871) set up a "Rotfarb und Cattundruckerei" in the building now used as a museum (built from 1558).
