Intro
Overlooking Zuoz, this castle-like hotel is a stylish lively venue with a jovial atmosphere and a hint of mischief. This is the place where the old and new, urban and alpine are blended together in a unique way.
Information
Description
Ambience:
The fabulous wooden terrace by the Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata and the hotel’s lounge with its famous Red Bar by Pipilotti Rist are the perfect venues to eat or drink in an informal atmosphere – even in ski shoes or winter boots. For those who stay overnight at the Castell, one hundred top-class works of art are inconspicuously spread over four floors. In the 66 comfortable rooms – some more urban, others more alpine – guests will sleep like a log. The hamam, which is located in the hotel’s historic basement, is an entire sensual work of art with magical glass cylinders and coloured mist. Guests might get carried away on a tide of nostalgia during dinner which is served in the beautiful dining room from the Gründerzeit era.
Location:
Located on the hill above Zuoz, the best preserved town in the Engadine, and halfway up on the Chastlatsch ski slope.
Cuisine:
Authentic Terroir cuisine with Middle and Far Eastern influence. The lunch menu also includes quite simple dishes such as spaghetti with tomato sauce, air-dried meat finely sliced or Kaiserschmarrn. Wine is a matter dear to the hotel manager’s heart, Martin Müller, and connoisseurs will definitely appreciate the restaurant’s wine cellar.
