Weissenstein-Passwang-Weg
Overview
Intro
The Weissenstein – Passwang trail takes you in two stages from Solothurn over the Weissenstein to Welschenrohr, through the impressive Wolfschlucht (Wolf Gorge), over the Schelten Pass and on to the scenic vantage point of Passwang. Numerous mountain restaurants along the way invite for a break.
Description
The trail begins in the Baroque city of Solothurn and takes you through the Verenaschlucht (Verena Gorge) – a wonderful place to recharge your batteries in preparation for the ascent of the Weissenstein. The trail continues via the cable car base station in Oberdorf up the Weissenstein, before descending to the Thal nature reserve and Welschenrohr.
The entrance to the Wolf Gorge is located a little way above the municipality of Welschenrohr. This unique natural wonder was created by natural forces. The rock faces of the gorge rise over 100 metres into the sky. The trail takes you past bizarre rock formations, caves and moss-covered trees, and on to Obere Tannmatt.
The trail then continues over the sun-soaked Jura hills to Zentner. On the way to the Schelten Pass you will be able to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Gulden Valley and the three chains of Jura mountains. The trail to Chratteneggli takes you past the Vorder Erzberg mountain restaurant. The trail to Passwang takes you along the border between Thal nature reserve and Schwarzbubenland.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
