Trail Run Fionnay
Overview
Intro
The peaceful Val de Bagnes is a runner’s paradise. Gorgeous trails spread out in all directions, each worth exploring. These ideal running trails lead up steep pastures, beside glaciers, and offer sweeping views of the Grand Combin and its surroundings.
Description
From Fionnay, the run starts along the river trail to the tiny village of Bonatchiesse, where you begin the climb to Col des Otanes. Steep and relentless, the trail leads into the forest and then rises well above it, opening onto green slopes. Where the path splits at La Tseumette, you can see an overview of the trails from Mauvoisin and encounter other runners coming from that direction.
After a 1,400-metre climb, you reach the rocky Alpine landscape of Col des Otanes. From there, it’s all downhill. But before descending too far, make sure to try the local tarte aux amandes at Cabane Panossière, which sits above the Corbassière Glacier.
Once you’ve recharged your batteries, continue down the hill of the Trophée des Combins race. A fast and fun way down is to skirt the rough edges of the moraine. The trail flattens along the Bisse de Corbassière, where the din of the rushing water quietens with each bend. As you come to the end of the bisse trail, you can enjoy the fun final stretch through the forest back to Fionnay.
Tip from ALPSinsight: Consider staying an extra day to run on the opposite side of the valley, which passes by the glistening waters of Lac de Louvie.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
