Chopin's music is a kind of bible for each and every pianist, no matter the proficiency level or development of professional career. By devoting a competition to young musicians who represent the future, we want to implement different approach to this repertoire, which has been mastered by virtuosos all over the world. In particular, we hope that this competition - as a unique event - will bring Chopin's music to a younger audience, one that is far too often oblivious to this repertoire but which can be stimulated by the presence of children and teenagers on stage.
Universal character of Chopin's music is evident today in the multitude of cultural horizons that have made his repertoire their own. His music is thus interpreted through a variety of sensibilities, each originating in different places all around the world.
This "Jeune Chopin" competition is cherishing the honorary patronage of the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Poland (www.nifc.pl), which is responsible, among other things, for organising the famous competition, held every five years in Warsaw. In addition, the venerated pianist Martha Argerich, one of the greatest musical personalities on the international scene and first prize-winner of the VII International Chopin Piano Competition in Poland (1965), has given us her patronage and support.
