Intro

With more than 80 women from all over the world, we climbed the Breithorn on 17 June 2022 and set a world record: the world's largest all-female rope team. Find out about a few of the participants and what motivates them here.

Eva Röse, Sweden

Eva Röse is an actress, writer, producer and director from Sweden. Fighting for equality and human rights. Front figure of the MeToo movement in Sweden and voted Voice of the year. Unicef Goodwill Ambassador and a free spirit. Trying to use her platform for change.

Siyoung Lee, Korea

Siyoung Lee is a famous South Korean actress who recently starred in the Netflix series “Sweet Home”. She is a member of the Swiss Friends in Korea for 2022–2023, an official ambassador of Switzerland appointed by Switzerland Tourism Korea. She loves sports and nature and has her own mountaineering channel on YouTube with over one hundred thousand subscribers. Every week she goes hiking in the Korean mountains.

Naomi Lareine, Switzerland

Lareine is known for her bitter-sweet dulcet tones that sit perfectly amidst her sophisticated, R&B-tinged releases. Hailing from Zurich, she is a young singer recognized as one of Switzerland’s most promising voices. The narratives she creates reflect her personal experiences, resulting in music developed organically with authenticity. Alongside her many achievements in music, Naomi isn’t afraid to fight for a better world. She stands up for human rights, women’s rights and social acceptance of all. Naomi acknowledges her platform as a vocalisation and celebration of differences and individualism.

Cindy Sirinya Bishop, Thailand 

Founder of the #DontTellMeHowToDress movement against gender based-violence, UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador to Asia and the Pacific, Cindy uses her platform to raise awareness, educate, and inspire action. 

Vaimalama Chaves, France

Vaimalama Chaves was Miss France 2019 and is a singer. She loves music and nature and wants to share her world and her discoveries with all of the curious minds who are brave enough to follow her. Her passion: life! She focuses on three things: Firstly: Music. She loves to sing, dance, play music and share that with her community! Next comes nature. Having grown up in Polynesia, nature, the mountains, the sea and the landscape are a key part of her personality. Together, we can explore new horizons and tell the world about them. This is her adventurous side talking. She likes to discover new cultures and learn about them. Participating in the 100% Women World Record is a challenge that she accepts with pride, to highlight sport, solidarity and personal achievement. She loves the mountains and she is looking forward to climbing the Allalinhorn together with other strong women.

Carol Barcellos, Brazil

Carol Barcellos is a reporter and an anchor at TV Globo, in Brazil. In 18 years working as journalist, she has covered: Olympics and Paralimpics games in Rio and, recently, in Tokyo; winter games in South Korea and the Women’s world cup in 2019, in France. As one of the hosts of a show called "Extreme Planet", ran the north pole marathon, the ultramarathon in Atacama desert and the 127km race in Amazon jungle, along other challenges. Carol has a ten year old daughter called Julia. She also founded a social project in a slum in Rio, to empower women thru sports.

Christine Amour-Levar, Singapore

A passionate champion of female empowerment and environmental conservation intent on solving some of the world’s most pressing issues, Christine founded not one, but two award-winning non-profit organisations, Women on a Mission and HER Planet Earth. Both take all-female teams on pioneering exhibitions – with Women on a Mission empowering and supporting women who have been subjected to violence and abuse, and Her Planet Earth raising funds for underprivileged women affected by climate change.

Rita Christen, Switzerland

Rita Christen is the first female president in over 100 years of the Swiss Mountain Guides Association. The 54-year-old from Disentis is a mountain guide, lawyer and much more. She has worked part-time as a court clerk at the cantonal administrative court for many years. She also acts as a mountain guide and mountain rescuer, while also finding the time to raise two boys and train as a yoga teacher. In addition, she teaches Alpine law, is President of the expert group for mountain accidents, and has served on the Board of Directors of the UIAA, the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation.

Mina Ghorbani, Iran

Mina Ghorbani is a mountain guide and professional mountaineer in Iran. She experiences the true meaning of life through questioning and critical thinking; something she learned from Mother Nature. She sees life as a constant cycle of evolution, defeat and resurgence; just like a mountain that reaches for the summit. I move, therefore I am.

Andrea Ference, Canadian

Andrea Ference is a Canadian writer, photographer and outdoor activist. She is passionate about introducing people to the outdoors and sharing her knowledge an adventures via her website andreaference.com and instagram @vagabondhearts.

Shibani Gharat, India

Shibani Gharat is a senior producer and anchor with CNBC TV18 and editorial lead on the Network 18 Group’s marquee property Storyboard18. She has 12 years of experience in managing news, projects and people across media platforms- TV, Digital & Print. 
She is also avid ultra-marathoner having won and completed over 100 running events both in India and globally. She was the first non-Ladakhi girl in the world to finish the 72 km high altitude Khar Dung La Challenge and has also been a part of team India in 2018 IAU 24 hour Asia Oceania Championship.

Ada Molgacheva, Kazakhstan 

Ada is a passionate mountaineer and lives in Almaty, the largest metropolis in Kazakhstan, located right in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountain. She trains IT specialists and teaches beginners at the mountaineering school in Almaty.

Itumeleng Mehale, South Africa 

Itumeleng grew up in the middle of nowhere in Limpopo, South Africa, which strengthened her love for adventure and nature and made her a fierce and independent woman. Since graduating from university, she has worked in the boardrooms of various companies. Most recently, she led the marketing campaign for the corporate branding of Africa’s largest brewery. She volunteers her time to encourage women and girls to live their lives to the full and overcome their fears. One such project is Caring4Girls, which addresses the plight of impoverished girls who often miss school during their periods because they do not have sanitary towels.

Caroline George, Switzerland

Caroline is passionate about all mountain-related activities. For the past 15 years she has worked as a mountain guide all over the world, from Antarctica to Norway and North America to the Alps. She has been a professional athlete for even longer, and is happiest when climbing frozen waterfalls. She has worked with women all over the world, inspiring them to push their own limits in the mountains. She was the leader of the SAC women’s expedition team, is the lead guide of the 100% Women World Record, mother of a little girl and lives in the canton of Valais.

Jolana Dandl, Germany

Jolana comes from beautiful Chiemgau in Upper Bavaria. She is a passionate (mountain) sportswoman and is therefore looking forward to spending a few days in Switzerland. Having grown up among forests and meadows and the comparatively small Bavarian Pre-Alps, she is really looking forward to spending a number of days at a higher altitude. She loves to challenge herself physically, but without losing sight of the enjoyment of being outdoors. Since 2019, she has been taking her Instagram community with her on her adventures and her everyday sporting life and can’t wait to report on the challenge in Saas Fee. 

Eve Roberts, UK 

Eve feels most comfortable when she can break new ground, take people on a journey and share her vision and passion with them. Her world is full of opportunities and challenges. She sees this as an opportunity for fresh experiences and to try something new. She supports and encourages women to push their limits and have the confidence to achieve what they thought was unattainable.

Carmen Huter, Austria

A few years ago, Carmen decided to leave the business world behind to dedicate herself to the creative field. Create more than you consume. That was – and still remains – her motto. Countless countries, impressions and photos later, the 29-year-old Tyrolean is now an award-winning travel photographer and the only female Sony Ambassador in Europe.

Aanchal Thakur, India

Aanchal Thakur (born 28 August 1996) is an Indian female alpine skier. She represented India at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics that took place in Innsbruck. In the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics, she took part in the Alpine skiing - Girl's Slalom and Girl's Giant Slalom events. In 2018, Thakur created history after becoming the first Indian skier ever to claim a medal in the international skiing event. She won the bronze medal in the 2018 Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup which was held in Turkey and was organised by the Federation Internationale de Ski. Thakur won her second medal in the international skiing event at FIS Alpine Ski Competition held at Kolašin, Montenegro. She won the bronze medal at the 2021 event held in Montenegro under the banner of the Jamaican national championships. She also became the first Indian skier to win multiple international skiing medals. On multiple occasions, Aanchal has mentioned that she does not want to restrict herself to skiing. She is now an influencer in her own right – encouraging young Indians to take up new sports such as skiing. She is also working on encouraging young girls in small mountain towns of India to dream big and aspire to higher education and fame.

Nouran Salah, Egypt

A carefree, nonconformist changemaker, Nouran is the founder of Cairo Cycling Geckos, an initiative that shocked the entire Egyptian nation when she set off to cycle the unfriendly streets of Cairo to distribute goods & services in an all-women-caravan, breaking social taboos. Parallel to that; She is a travel guru & an active mobility coach. She also has 7 years of experience in Pole dance and body movement. She caters local & international retreats that mix between yoga, intense excursions, meditation and immense exploration to show what the world has to offer while passionately researching how the body, mind and emotions are connected. 

Liv Sansoz, France

Two-time world climbing champion and three-time World Cup winner Liv Sansoz is at home on the rock face. She quells her insatiable appetite for the mountains with extraordinary feats. She recently climbed all 82 4,000-metre peaks in the Alps. In her projects, Liv strives to work respectfully with the mountains in order to preserve them for future generations. Liv is a mountain guide with ENSA in Chamonix.

Emma Svensson, Sweden

Emma Svensson is a photographer and alpine climber from Sweden who is currently climbing all 4,000-metre mountains in The Alps. Founder of female community Women of Mountaineering where they try to inspire more women to go on adventures in the mountains.

Jana Grösche, Germany

“Giving someone a fresh start can often feel like climbing a 4,000-metre peak,” says Jana, a social worker from Berlin who has been involved in helping the homeless for several years. She acts as a support for some people who fall by the wayside and don’t make it to the top, providing a helping hand to convince them “you can do it”. Jana is joining the team on behalf of all women in care jobs. 

Nadine Wallner, Austria 

In 2013, the Austrian freerider was the youngest athlete at the time to win the world champion title on the Freeride World Tour and was also crowned champion in 2014. In addition, Mammut Pro Team athlete Nadine Wallner devotes herself to various video projects of her own, demonstrating her skills in climbing and trail running sports – always with the aim of enjoying every moment in the fabulous mountain world and sharing these moments with good friends.

Ana Maria Rivadeneira Zambrano, Ecuador

The 54-year-old studied art history in Ecuador, is the mother of three children and grandmother of five grandchildren, and has been married for 35 years. After the children flew the nest, she discovered her love for outdoor sports. She hikes, dives, rides horses and enjoys any activity that allows her to appreciate nature and life. She hopes that her grandchildren will one day tell her about their grandmother’s cool heroics (like the world record with an all-female team!). She wants to inspire them to achieve anything, regardless of age, gender or circumstances.

Deborah Meier and Simone Imthurn, Switzerland

The two friends come from eastern Switzerland are very happy to be part of this world record attempt. Besides studying, they fill their free time with sports activities, spontaneity and good food. The ascent of a 4,000-metre peak is their next sporting challenge – and they are ready!

Caja Schöpf, Germany

Caja Schöpf is a real all-rounder – as an outdoor athlete, sports psychologist and sports model. Since her career as a professional freestyle skier came to an end, she has produced her own film and photo projects, worked as a mental coach for the TSG Hoffenheim youth team, and is always looking for new challenges. She grew up in the mountains, forging her career there and never losing her passion for life on the peaks. She particularly enjoys new challenges that make her mountain heart beat a little faster. For Caja, the mountains are not just about action, but are first and foremost a place from which to draw strength and recharge her batteries for everyday life – and it doesn’t necessarily have to be a 4,000-metre peak in order to do so.
