Grimmialp Trail
Overview
Intro
Enjoy the serenity of Diemtigtal Nature Park on the Grimmialp Trail. At the very end of the valley, the circular hike traverses Alpine meadows with fantastic views of the peaks of the Diemtigtal valley. If you are lucky, you might spot ibex.
Description
This circular hike leads from the Grimmialp along the Senggibach stream, proceeding slowly towards the end of the Diemtigtal valley. On the right-hand side, the Fromattgrat with its imposing rock face dominates the surroundings. The view of the Hinderi Spillgerte and the Rothore, which tower over the majority of peaks in the Diemtigtal valley at over 2,400 metres, is equally striking.
After passing the cabin at Hintere Nidegg, the trail leads through the Nideggwald wood towards the wildlife observation hut. With any luck, you may be able to watch some ibex through the telescope mounted there. The ski lift up to Ober Stierenberg takes you to the highest point of this snowshoe hike.
The descent is via the snowy Alpine meadows of Nidegg back to the Grimmialp. The way back will reward you with a majestic view of the Diemtigtal Nature Park. You can get refreshments on the Grimmialp at the beginning and/or end of the tour.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
