Alpine Panorama Trail
Overview
Intro
The route leads through the heart of the Emmental via a long mountain crest with scattered farmsteads and varying views down into the wide valley of the Grosse Emme, then on up to the equally scenic Moosegg.
Description
This part of the tour starts on the beautiful Moosegg overlook. Located at 950 m, you can see Langnau from here, the Emmental Valley and all the way to the Bernese Alps. Moosegg is not only known for fantastic views, but also for its open-air theatre and the small Woodrock festival. The hiking trail passes Restaurant Waldhäuser and turns into the forest.
A lovely path takes you up to the Blaseflue overlook at 1118 m. Typical for the hilly region is the continuous, but enjoyable variation between easy uphill and easy downhill walking, while passing meadows and small sections through the forest. As suggested by the name of the route, you are always surrounded by the magnificent Alpine panorama. After about 2 ½ hours, you reach Grosshöchstetten. The town, called Höchstetten until 1896, was sparsely populated as early as 1200 to 100 B.C., as witnessed by two Celtic tombs on the edge of Hünberg forest.
Past pretty meadows full of flowers, the trail continues above Konolfingen to Münsingen. The end of today’s section is reached after about five hours. Münsingen is located in the centre of the Aare Valley, adjacent to the Emmental Valley and the Oberland in the direction of Thun. The town has a history of 2500 years, ranging from Celtic settlements to today’s semi-urban regional centre with a population of over 10,000.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
