Rousseau on the island of St-Pierre
Overview
Intro
Following in the footsteps of Rousseau!
His journey took him to the then little-known Île St-Pierre in the heart of Lake Biel. During this costumed guided tour, you will discover not only his ideas, works and idiosyncrasies, but also what made him such a revolutionary figure.
In 1765, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, philosopher, composer and botanist, fled the uproar caused by his writings. It was on Île St-Pierre that he finally found peace, serenity and communion with nature. After his stay, this haven of tranquillity became an essential stopover for travellers on their great educational tour. Take a stroll along these same paths and let yourself be transported back to the 18ᵉ century by listening to excerpts from his musical works... a guaranteed immersion in Rousseau's world.
