Colonia di Mogno
Overview
The group house Colonia di Mogno is located at the entrance to the village of Mogno, in the upper part of Val Lavizzara in the district of Vallemaggia (Ticino, Switzerland), and is known for the church of San Giovanni Battista, one of the top 10 sights of Ticino. The church is considered one of the most important works by star architect Mario Botta.
The Colonia di Mogno was completely renovated in 2012 and is equipped with all comforts for up to 70 people.
The group house is also suitable for people with disabilities and in particular has a specially furnished room with a barrier-free shower.
Large grounds with football pitch and goals, table tennis and table football in the house. The group house is open from 1 April to 30 November. Final cleaning by arrangement with the house management.
The Val Lavizzara is a side valley of the Valle Maggia. Probably no other Ticino valley is more original, authentic and wildly romantic. In Brontallo at the entrance to the valley, at 700 m above sea level, lie the terraces of the highest vineyard in Ticino. A little above in Peccia is the only marble quarry in Switzerland, along with a sculpture school. A few dizzying switchbacks further on is Mogno with its world-famous church. Via the dreamy, picturesque village of Fusio, you can only reach the lonely and quiet Lago di Mognola on foot. It is only small, but it is one of the most beautiful in Ticino.
