The Lynx Trail on Betelberg Mountain leads from the Leiterli top station to the Wallegg top station (6 km, approx. 2.5 hours, for children from 7 years who like hiking.) Some years ago, a special research program was initiated in the Western Alps to study these elegant but shy animals. It led to the capture of two grown lynx right beneath the Betelberg mountain cable car on March 25 and 26, 1997. They are now equipped with tiny transmitters and can be traced as they evolve in their natural habitat. You may not see the real thing, but be on the lookout! Several close-to-real lynx figures are hidden along the trail. Learn more about the lynx during the hike and at the Wallegg info station.
