The Aletsch Glacier, Valais

Simply awe-inspiring. At 23 km long, the mighty Aletsch glacier is the longest and most fascinating river of ice in the Alps, and the most accessible too.
Monumentally majestic, at over 900m in depth and 1,000 m wide, the mighty Aletsch glacier winds its way along between mountains 3,000 m to 4,000 m in height. Discover its unique beauty on a guided walk from Bettmeralp - the short 2-hour tour will already bring you closer to the fascinating world of ice. And the trail through the peaceful Aletsch forest, home to Switzerland's oldest stone pines, provides great views of the first UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Further fascinating facts about nature are to be found in the constantly changing exhibitions in the Villa Cassel at Riederalp. The villa, where Churchill once stayed, now also houses the nature reserve's information centre and is home to a wonderful alpine garden.

Switzerland pure. Where nature and culture meet.

Even in the relentless rush of our modern times, Switzerland still has its unspoilt natural landscapes, its rich flora and fauna, and its country traditions. Hence "Switzerland pure.", the most natural of Switzerland's seals of quality. The label applies to those holiday offers in which people and nature coexist in harmony, experiences to let you wonder at the little things that, in Switzerland, can be truly "wonder-full".
