From green hills to high peaks

In the south of the Fribourg Region, discover crystal-clear lakes, gentle rolling hills and mediaeval towns and villages – and the unique combination of French nonchalance and Swiss charm. Admire the deep blue Lake Greyerz and the fantastic views from the 2,000 m high Moléson, reached by funicular and cable car; further east is the small town of Broc, home to the Cailler-Nestlé chocolate factory. And the mighty Jaunbach gorge and the peaceful Lake Montsalvens also merit a visit. From the lake, take the small path to the picturesque village of Charmey, while those aiming higher should take the Rapido Sky cable car up to Vounetz at 1,630 m, or find out more about the countryside and history of Charmey by following the two themed trails on foot.

A fairytale castle and village

The car-free village of Gruyères with its 800-year-old castle houses the treasures of the former Counts of Gruyères, as well as the museum of the creator of “Alien”, H.R. Giger.
