La Chaux-de-Fonds

La Chaux-de-Fonds, the traditional watchmaking town, is the highest town in Europe and lies 1,000 metres above sea level.
It is also recognised for the three world-famous personalities who used to live here: the architect Le Corbusier, the automobile pioneer Chevrolet, and the writer Blaise Cendrars.

La Chaux-de-Fonds is also seen as a cultural and sporting centre. In summer, the region attracts mainly hikers and bikers, while winter is the season for cross-country skiers, who have 400 kilometres of prepared cross-country ski runs at their disposal.

How to get there:
By car, from Neuchatel on the motorway or from Les Franches-Montagnes via Saignelegier - Le Noirmont - Les Bois, or from France via Les Brenets - Le Locle.
By train, from Neuchatel or Glovelier (JU) via Saignelegier.
